Land and Environment Court of NSW

Responsibilities of parties requesting a video link call

Once a video link has been confirmed by an order of the Court, please note the following.

It is the responsibility of the party or organisation requesting the video link to coordinate the booking of the remote site and notify all participants of details of the video link, such as venue, commencement time, duration and other relevant requirements or duties.

Parties are requested to attend the site 15-20 minutes prior to the commencement of the video link to enable the video link operator to:

  • test the audio and video reception
  • confirm participant details of the other site.

Parties should be mindful of time differences between States and countries and be able to provide any additional information to the registry.

Where the video link relates to the taking of evidence in a court hearing, the party or organisation requesting the video link is to ensure that a Bible or alternative (such as the Koran) is available at the remote video link site for the swearing in or participants and or witnesses and interpreters.

The Land and Environment Court uses VTEL Galaxy Video Link equipment that operates on one to four ISDN lines (speeds of 128 to 512 Kb/s).

Connection can be made at lower transmission speeds however picture and sound quality will reduce accordingly.
